Commodities trading plays a significant role in the Brazilian economy since Brazil is one of the world's leading producers and exporters of commodities. The country's rich natural resources, including agricultural land and mineral deposits, have made it a major player in the global market for commodities such as soybeans, coffee, sugar, beef, chicken, and iron ore.

Soybean

Brazil is currently the world's leading soybean producer. The USDA has projected Brazil's soybean production for the 2022/23 season to be roughly 148,5 million metric tons, which represents approximately 38% of global soybean production based on USDA's projections of 386.1 MMT of global production. Brazilian soybean is a highly valued commodity and a versatile crop, which is used for both animal feed and human consumption.

Corn

Brazil is currently the third-largest producer of corn in the world, behind the United States and China. With its ideal climate and abundant farmland, Brazil is able to produce high-quality corn that is used for a variety of purposes, including animal feed, ethanol production, and human consumption.

Wheat

Brazil is not a significant player in the global wheat trade as it is a net importer of the grain. However, in recent years, the country has been able to increase its wheat exports, with major destinations being neighboring countries. Brazil is expected to import 5.6 million tons in 2022/23. Production in the season is estimated at 9.66 MT. Thus, supply is forecast at 15.953 MT. Exports should increase from 3.105 MT in 2021/22 to 3.5 MT in 2022/23.
